Functionality

Q: Our company uses Active Directory without Exchange. Does WebDir support this type of environment?
A: WebDir support Active Directory only without the need to have Exchange installed within your environment.

Q: Is it possible for users to store their photographs in AD and have them viewed / updated?
A: WebDir support this functionality by allowing you to specify a rule that defines where photographs reside. For example, you can tell WebDir that all photographs are in the c:\photo directory and the file names match the username or alias of the users. So when the user logs into WebDir it will search the path specified and compare the names provided for each picture with their alias or username in the Exchange or Active Directory directory in order to match the appropriate picture to the logged on user.

Q: Our company has a different domain for each geographical location; however, we are all located within the same forest in Active Directory. Will I need to create a virtual server for each domain in order for users to log into WebDir?
A: Yes, WebDir has the ability to link fields by country, state, city or by organization, department, and title. This feature can be implemented when using the WebDir Designer.

Q: Our organization is looking for a directory management tool that will provide us with the ability to link fields by country, state, city. Do you have a tool that can help us?
A: Yes, WebDir has the ability to link fields by country, state, city or by organization, department, and title. This feature can be implemented when using the WebDir Designer.

Q: Our organization is looking for a tool that will empower end-users to update their directory information and provide our administrators a way to report problems with the tool automatically. Do you have a tool that will work within our requirements?
A: Yes, WebDir is a web-based directory manager that will empower end-users with the ability to update their personal information within Exchange or Active Directory. It will also present administrators with an option to send Imanami Software an automatic crash report when a problem arises.

Q: Our organization is looking for a directory management tool that can also function as an organizational chart for our end-users. Do you have a directory management tool that includes this functionality?
A: Yes, WebDir has a feature called, "Organizational Navigation", which allows end-user to navigate your entire organizations management structure.

Q: Information is being entered into our organization's directory in a variety of formats. This makes it difficult to locate information in our directory. Can WebDir help me with that problem?
A: Yes, WebDir contains input validation functionality that enforces the data format that is submitted to the directory.

Q: We are currently looking for a tool that will provide our users with the ability to update their own information within our organization's directory. For security purposes, the tool will need to provide some form of approval routing of change requests and will need to allow administrators and managers to monitor changes that are submitted to our directory. Do you have a tool that will provide us with this functionality?
A: Yes, WebDir has a new feature called, "Automated Work Flow Approval" which allows administrators and managers to monitor the information that is being passed to the Exchange server by WebDir users. If an end-user makes a change, a log is kept so administrators can easily see all the changes. If an end-user makes a change to a field that requires approval, the change request will automatically be routed to the necessary parties for their approval. If the request is approved, WebDir will then automatically implement the change. If the request is denied, the request will not be implemented.
